Bleaching powder contains a chemical called calcium hipochlorite. If it is exposed to air it reacts with the carbon dioxide in the air to produce chlorine gas. As you know chlorinne is very toxic and can kill us when inhaled even in low concentrations.. because bleaching powder contains calcium hypochlorite that will react with carbon dioxide in the air to produce chlorine gas which is extremely toxic and will cause death even in small amounts when inhaled.
