14 x + 26 y \leq 180


He wants to buy at least 6 items. The inequality to represent the quantity constraint is x+ y \geq 6



The one possible combination of T-shirts and shorts that Cal could buy is 5 T-shirts and 2 shorts. This is because this combination or pair (5,2) will solve the above system of inequalities.


Check:

 14 \cdot 5 + 26 \cdot 2 = 70 + 52 = 122 \lt 180 and,

5 + 2 = 7 which is greater than 6.
