Step 1: Find the center of the circle if it has not been given to you

Step 2: Connect the point on the circle with the centre of the circle. This length is

equal to the radius of the circle.

Step 3: Extend the radius past the circle.

Step 4: Construct the perpendicular to the radius through point P.

NOTE: That perpendicular is the tangent to the circle at point P.
