Determine whether DEF with vertices D( 6, 6 ), E( 39, 12 ), and F( 24, 18 ) is scalene, isosceles, or equilateral
I need help with setting up the problem and solving it correctly.
I need help with setting up the problem and solving it correctly.
You have to find the distance between the given set of points to know if the triangle will be scalene, isosceles or equilateral.
As you know when no sides are equal it is a scalene triangle
An isosceles triangle has two sides of equal length
In an equilateral triangle all three sides have the same equal distance.
Let us find the distance between vertices D (6,6) and E(39, 12) DE
Use the formula which is
Assume x_{1} = 6, x_{2} = 6, y_{1} = 39, y_{2} = 12
Plugging these values in the formula we get the distance DE
The same has to be repeated to find the distance EF and distance DF.
Let me know if you need more help!
