Step 1: Write down the problem.

Step 2: Add up all of the measurements.

            EXAMPLE: = (8x -1) + (3x + 9) + (3x + 4)

                              = (14x + 12)

Step 3: Make sure you set the equation equal to 180

            14x + 12 = 180

Step 4: Solve for x.

            14x + 12 = 180

            14x = 180 - 12

               x = \frac{168}{14}

              x = 12

Step 5: Substitute x (variable) value in the given linear equations to know the angles

            EXAMPLE:  8x - 1 = 8(12) - 1 = 96 - 1 = 95 \degree

                                3x + 9 = 3(12) + 9 = 36 + 9 = 45 \degree

                                3x + 4 = 3(12) + 4 = 36 + 4 = 40 \degree
