Every god or goddess on Aztec has different ways of being worshipped with different kinds of rituals. Many gods would only be appeased with human sacrifice. There are different types in this. Some would sacrifice animals to please their god. Some would sacrifice themselves, as they believed they owed blood debt to their gods.



Huitzilopochtli, one of the major gods of Aztec, could only be appeased by the blood of human. His temple located at atop the pyramid on Tenochtitlan.


Victims captured in battle were beheaded and the heads were displayed as trophies on something called a great rack or wall. It is thought that more than 20,000 were ritualistically killed in a 4-day temple completion celebration of his.

Another God Tlaloc, the god of rain , thunder and earthquake was known for demanding child sacrifices.
