Solve for x in terms of y and z

Isolate the x variable by shifting it to the left hand side

-4x - z = 2y

-4x = 2y + z

\frac{-4x}{-4} = \frac{2y}{-4} + \frac{z}{-4}  (Divide each side by -4)

x = \frac{-1}{2} y -\frac{z}{4}
