Let's start by finding the total number of ceiling tiles. 34.25% of all tiles are bright white squares. There are 25 bright white squares, so we have


25 = 0.3425 \cdot (total number of tiles).

total number of tiles = \frac{25}{0.3425} \approx 73


Since we know the total number of tiles, we now fill in the missing values in the two-way table.


73 - 33 = 40.

40 - 25 = 15.

15 + 10 = 25.


Fill in these values in the missing cells as shown below.


Row percentage of off-white rectangles, there were 33 off-white tiles and 10 of them were rectangles.


x = \frac{10}{33} \approx 0.303 = 30.3%


So, x = 30.3
