Impulse is the product of force and time duration for which the force is applied.

Impulse can be calculated by computing the change in momentum of the object on which it is applied.

F\ =ma; We know that a=\frac{\Delta v}{\Delta t} or that acceleration is the rate of change of velocity.

Hence, F=m\left(\frac{\Delta v}{\Delta t}\right) or

F\Delta t\ =m\Delta v

The impulse can be calculated by the change in momentum of the object on which the force is applied.
