Redwood trees live for between 500-700 years. Some can even live upto 2000 years.

Due to this, they grow very tall. The tallest tree in California was found to be taller than the Statue of Liberty. They also grow to be quite thick - there are trees through which a car can drive through.

The tree has few natural enemies. Tannic acid makes them resistant to disease and insect infestation; and their fibrous bark resists fire. This enables them to live long.
