Animals like humans are adaptable. An adaptation is a way an animal's body helps it survive, or live, in its environment. Some places on Earth are very hot and some are very cold. Some places on Earth have a lot of water and plants, and other places have very little water and few plants.. Antarctica is very cold. It is a desert. Some birds which are migratory, leave when winter arrives. Like the geese and penguins. Adelie penguin the second most  southerly penguin species, breed in the far south but leave it on the onset of winter.

As far as hot deserts are considered, if you count snakes and insects as animals, (since they are in the animal kingdom) you will find that the animals staying in hot deserts do not travel to other places. They do not migrate or hibernate. So, yes more animals thrive in hot deserts than cold deserts.
