The climate of Europe, especially the west side of it is Oceanic climate which is highly conditioned by Gulf Stream.

To be clear, Gulf Stream is a warm  and swift Atlantic Ocean current which originates at the Gulf of Mexico and continues to the end of Florida and follows the eastern coastline of US and Canada before crossing Atlantic Ocean.

It effects the weather of east coast of North America, and the west coast of Europe. Because of it, the climate of western and northern Europe is much warmer than it would otherwise be. This is why Gulf stream got a nickname as "Europe's central heating".
